Higher-order topological sensitivity for 2-D potential problems. Application to fast identification of inclusions

چکیده

This article concerns an extension of the topological derivative concept for 2D potential problems involving penetrable inclusions, whereby a cost function J is expanded in powers of the characteristic size ε of a small inclusion. The O(ε) approximation of J is established for a small inclusion of given location, shape and conductivity embedded in a 2-D region of arbitrary shape and conductivity, and then generalized to several such inclusions. Simpler and more explicit versions of this result are obtained for a centrally-symmetric inclusion and a circular inclusion. Numerical tests are performed on a sample configuration, for (i) the O(ε) expansion of potential energy, and (ii) the identification of a hidden inclusion. For the latter problem, a simple approximate global search procedure based on minimizing the O(ε) approximation of J over a dense search grid is proposed and demonstrated.

Fast identification of cracks using higher-order topological sensitivity for 2-D potential problems

This article concerns an extension of the topological sensitivity (TS) concept for 2D potential problems involving insulated cracks, whereby a misfit functional J is expanded in powers of the characteristic size a of a crack. Going beyond the standard TS, which evaluates (in the present context) the leading O(a) approximation of J , the higher-order TS established here for a small crack of arbi...

Neural Network Sensitivity to Inputs and Weights and its Application to Functional Identification of Robotics Manipulators

Neural networks are applied to the system identification problems using adaptive algorithms for either parameter or functional estimation of dynamic systems. In this paper the neural networks' sensitivity to input values and connections' weights, is studied. The Reduction-Sigmoid-Amplification (RSA) neurons are introduced and four different models of neural network architecture are proposed and...

Small-inclusion asymptotic of misfit functionals for inverse problems in acoustics

Abstract The aim of this study is an extension and employment of the concept of topological derivative as it pertains to the nucleation of infinitesimal inclusions in a reference (i.e. background) acoustic medium. The developments are motivated by the need to develop a preliminary indicator functional that would aid the solution of inverse scattering problems in terms of a rational initial ‘gue...
